Joining card swaps is fun!
Joining card swaps is a lot of fun, as you can see from my last post. Not only do we exchange stamping tips and ideas through our swap projects, but it is also a wonderful time of fellowship and sharing our love of stamping. Today I am sharing my card for the Occasions/Sale-A-Bration (SAB) Unit Swap that we held last month.
I used the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (147239) which is FREE through the SAB promotion. I chose a Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist combination. It was a bit of a challenge because Lemon Lime Twist is so bright, but I like the way the two colors work together on this card.
I hadn’t used the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper (144147) or the Garden Trellis Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (143741) in awhile so used them. They continue the exotic peacock theme. Did you noticed the use of the Envelope Punchboard’s (133774) corner rounder on some of the corners? I rounded diagonally opposite corners on some layers. It gives the card a more formal look. The use of Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430) on the focal point adds more height and texture to the card.
It still needed something. A ribbon! I didn’t have any Lemon Lime Twist or Dapper Denim ribbons at the time, so I custom dyed a length of Solid Whisper White Baker’s Twine (124262) using a few drops of my Lemon Lime Twist Ink Refill mixed with water and alcohol. A Mini Glue Dot (103683) was used to add the bow to the card front. (Note: I ALWAYS keep an assortment of Stampin’ Up!’s white ribbons and embellishments on hand to “re-color” when the need arises. Especially now that we have Stampin’ Blends which can be used to change the color of most products!)
We often get “extras” from our Unit members. That makes joining card swaps even more fun! The homemade gingersnaps and chocolate were all delicious, and the box of Ferrero Rocher serves a dual purpose. Did you know they are the perfect size for storing our Stampin’ Blends!?! It’s a win-win situation! Now you have a great excuse to go out and buy some for yourself, if you need an excuse! LOL!
