Magical Ink Artists’s May Swap Meet!
The Magical Ink Artists’s May Swap was held on May 13, 2016. The challenge for the swap was to use any stamp set that hadn’t seen ink yet. It could be current, retiring or already retired – as long as it was a Stampin’ Up! set. I had purchased “You’re Sublime” months ago. I was busy creating with Occasion catalog products so it had been sitting idle and neglected. I decided it was time to pull it out for the swap.
I started my You’re Sublime swap card by watercoloring my background on a piece of Watercolor Paper using an Aqua Painter, Soft Sky ink (sky) , Marina Mist ink (water) and a combination of Cajun Craze ink and Soft Suede ink (for the sand). I let each color section of watercoloring dry before moving on to the next one because I didn’t want the colors to blend. I used Jet Black StazOn ink to stamp “have a snappy day!” – from You’re Sublime stamp set – and brushed Clear Wink of Stella on the water. The watercolored background was glued to a Basic Black mat and then to a Smoky Slate card base. The crab image was stamped on Real Red card stock using Jet Black StazOn ink. I cut it out and then glued it to the card front. I decided to add google eyes.
Don’t you just LOVE the sparkle created by the Clear Wink of Stella? It looks exactly like the sun reflecting off of the waves. And the google eyes make such a difference. They add so much character and personality to the card.
Come back tomorrow to see the other cards from the swap.
