Scrappy Acorny!

I put out another Virtual Challenge to the Magical Ink Artist team members yesterday. This time it was a Sketch Challenge in which they are to use strips of Designer Series Paper from their scrap stash. I was excited to “play” so I got out my paper and stamps to create my own contribution(s) for the challenge. Both of these projects are based on the challenge.

I stated that the above card and pillow box are “based on the challenge” because, full disclosure here(!), although I used Designer Series Paper strips, they are NOT from my scrap stash. I created the strips specifically for these projects!

I decided to use the Into the Woods Designer Series Paper collection from the Holiday catalog. I hadn’t realized yesterday was the first day of Autumn. I loved driving the country roads of Maryland during September… with all the trees the lovely shades of Fall… and I miss it. I guess you could say I am in “Fall Mode” even though we don’t have a Fall season here in the tropics.

The strips on the card were cut at 7/8″; the ones on the pillow box are 1/2″. I used the “Nuts About You” image for both projects, so one can hold a gift while the other becomes the greeting card for the occasion. I love the dimension the Tangelo Twist card stock Bow Builder Punch bow adds Scrappy Acorny ThankYou_PillowBoxto the card! I’m also enjoying the size of the Square Pillow Box Thinlets Die! I have so many ideas of different things I can fit inside the box!

Hop on over to my Facebook page if you would like to view another card using this same concept… but with Designer Series Paper strips that actually came from my scrap stash! AND, you can find a photo tutorial on how to create the Designer Series Paper strip panels on my Tutorials page!

Note: Both of today’s projects qualify for my blog give-away for the month! Leave a comment below and you may find one of these projects in your mailbox!

I was having so much fun that I kept stamping! I’ll be sharing those projects with you over the next few days.
