I LOVE Swaps!
If you are a regular reader then you know I LOVE swaps! Yesterday I shared the results of our Stampin’ Up! unit’s Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure swap that was held last month. I continue the theme today by sharing my second project for the swap. It is my first ever Split Panel card. (Note: It will be one of the cards featured in Saturday’s “Spring is Here!” class.
You may be asking why swaps are a good idea, and why I like to participate in them. In one word… INSPIRATION! This card is a perfect example! It is a blend of three different cards I received in a recent swap.
First, the card design. I had been seeing cards that used the Split Panel technique all over the internet, but it was the first time I ever saw one in person. As you can see, it inspired me to FINALLY create one myself. Sometimes it is just “the push” needed to give it a try yourself.
Second, that “mop head” (or would it be “duster head”?) chick peeking in from the sides with such curiosity. Loved it, and don’t know if I would ever have come up with the idea on my own.
Third, the combination of coloring techniques: our new Watercolor Pencils and Stampin’ Write Markers for the coloring. The watercolor pencils give the bodies a gentle shading, while the markers provide the “mops” the intensity of color that they deserved.
I definitely had fun creating the card. I am looking forward to showing my class attendees how to make the card in Saturday’s “Spring is Here!” class. The other cards featured in the class will be Spring, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Graduation themed. All will use a combination of products from Stampin’ Up!’s current catalogs. It is an opportunity to come try out new products while learning some new techniques, and enjoying the fun and fellowship with others!
